Often packaged with remote starters, security systems offer enhanced protection against theft. They deter not only theft of the vehicle but help to keep your valuables safe as well. With some of our advanced solutions you can actually get notification on your remote if your alarm is triggered. Most packages include keyless entry as well.
In the past, remote start systems were limited to automatic transmission vehicles. With advancements in technology now you can enjoy the benefits in nearly any vehicle including manual transmission, diesel, older vehicles, vehicles with push-button starters and vehicles with “chipped” key anti-theft features.
In manual or “stick shift” vehicles we can install neutral safety switches. These have a dual fail safe that prevents the car from starting unless it is in neutral and the parking brake is set. When exiting the vehicle simply remember to set the parking brake and leave it in neutral, remove the key, and roll up any windows. The engine may continue to run for a few moments and then automatically shut off. Additionally, with some of our security system solutions in place it will automatically lock all doors and engage the alarm. If you go with a 2-way remote system it will send you a notification
With one or more bypass modules installed in vehicles with chipped anti-theft systems allows the car to recognize the correct key code and start without the physical key.
We can install after market packages even if your vehicle has factory keyless entry or an alarm installed. This is beneficial because of the limited range and functionality of factory systems.
When shopping for a remote start/security system there are a plethora of options. You may be surprised at the many additional features that can be integrated with your installation but range is one of the most important features to look for. While most installations are under warranty for as long as you own the vehicle, the key-fob remotes are generally only warranted for 1-2 years depending on brand. You may be able to purchase an extended warranty for the remotes.
If professionally installed, remote start and security systems will not void your car warranty. While some will advertise you can self install, it is actually a very complicated procedure and if the car is damaged in any way during the installation it can void the vehicle warranty and lead to serious repair costs. Since range is one if not the most important factor to consider when choosing a package, it is always better to have more than less. Sure you may park in your driveway or garage while at home, but consider when you are away from home. Large parking lots such as airports, sports games, shopping malls, restaurants, and movie theaters are just some of the examples where you want enough range.
Choosing an appropriate range ensures that you return to a comfortable and safe vehicle wherever you go and selecting a higher range is not significantly more expensive. Also if your package has a 2-way remote you want to ensure you can receive feedback on the key-fob. Generally, range varies from 1,000 feet to one mile.
Another factor that may not come to mind is interference. Sine most remotes work on radio frequency (RF) there will always be a certain amount of interference. Buildings, motors, electrical lines, windows, other vehicles, fluorescent lights, and other RF signals can significantly reduce range. This is not reflected on the packaging. The distance transmission power advertised is in an ideal straight line situation.
